the question isn't "what's new?" - the question is "what isn't new?", and the answer is "nothing".
so when
we last met lil, she was involved with a man old enough to be her father and it was going nowhere. said old-enough-to-be-father
man was just a teensy bit less than honest about what he wanted, and in march of 2008, lil ended up dumped on the proverbial
derriere. and if that wasn't bad enough, her dearest friend - the one person outside of her family that she never wanted
to lose - lost his battle with cancer the very next day.
so lil went through a bit of a transformation. she was numb
for about a month...maybe a little more. then she had a breakdown. then she went into grief counselling. finally, she decided
that a life change was in order.
fast forward six months to september, and lil packs up literally everything
she owns and begins the long drive across the country, with her ex-husband at the helm of the u-haul. she rents two floors
of a house in a downtown toronto neighborhood, and eventually finds a job to supply her with the money to pay for it all.
all
in all, i'm happy. i have chalked old-enough-to-be-father man up as a rather unfortunate experience, and am content to wallow
in my continued grief.
when not wallowing, i've been studying braille transcription. there's no money to be made in
braille transcription, but volunteer opportunities abound. i have to do something i hate in order to earn a living - it would
be nice to do something i love just for the fun of it.
